What it is

Dried rose petals imported from Pakistan, from Rosa damascena — the "Rose of Isfahan", the rose traditionally grown in Iran and Pakistan for rose oil and rose water. Marked by its strong fragrance, stable colour, ideal for decoration, aromatising sweets and meat dishes, drinks and craft.

Key properties

Rich fragrance with characteristic monoterpene notes (geraniol, nerol, citronellol). Low fat content, mild astringency from tannins, anthocyanin pigments giving the pink-red hue.

Uses

Who it is for

For pastry work, spoon sweets, cakes and tarts; for aromatic drinks, teas, cocktails and syrups; in cooking as an aromatic in minced meat (Moroccan tradition for kefta), rice and meat dishes; for decoration at weddings, events and table settings; in craft, potpourri and soaps.

Common uses

Whole petals in drinks and fruit salads, crushed in spice blends (e.g. ras el hanout). In cocktails infused in simple syrup; on sweets as garnish or ground into doughs. As potpourri they blend with lavender, chamomile and cinnamon.

Preparation and use

Rose petal tea

1 tablespoon of petals in 250 ml of boiling water, infuse for 5–7 minutes and strain. A gentle flavour with rose aroma; takes honey or a pinch of cinnamon well.

Rose petal syrup

30 g of petals in 500 ml water and 400 g sugar. Simmer for 15–20 minutes, strain and store in a sealed jar in the fridge for up to 3 weeks. Ideal for waffles, yoghurt, ice cream and cocktails.

Aromatic mince (Moroccan tradition)

Grind 2 tablespoons of petals in a blender or mortar with spices. Add 1 teaspoon of the blend to 500 g of minced meat for kefta or stuffed vegetables.

Decoration and potpourri

Whole petals in glass jars, scented sachets, decorative pieces on wax candles and table settings.

Precautions

Good-quality edible imported rose petals, without pesticides per supplier declaration. Avoid in confirmed Rosaceae allergy. Because they are imported, we do not recommend introducing them to infants before similar aromatic flavours are part of their diet. Store in a sealed container, away from light and moisture, to preserve aroma and colour.

Frequently asked questions

Are the petals edible?

Yes, they are suitable for use in drinks, sweets, syrups and light cooking. Being imported, we recommend them mainly for aromatising and decoration rather than as a daily food.

How do I keep the aroma longer?

In a sealed glass or metal container, away from light, moisture and heat sources. Stored well, they keep their aroma for 12–18 months.

How do they differ from Greek Kozani rose petals?

These are imported Pakistani petals with the strong "Rose of Isfahan" aroma — ideal for decoration, potpourri and aromatising. Kozani rose petals come from a certified Greek cultivation of edible roses, with an emphasis on transparency of origin.
